Specify main details about your car
Several variables control the final Illinois cost to ship a car. Vehicle make and model, together with the distance set the base price. Then the choice of car carrier type is added to the equation. Shipping a non-running car drives the price up due to additional equipment. Lastly, current supply and demand may increase or decrease the final price.
Smaller cars are cheaper to ship, while bigger, heavier vehicles are more expensive.
Open auto transport is the standard shipping method. It is used for all vehicle types and it is less expensive. Enclosed carrier cost more.
The longer the distance the less it costs per mile. Shorter distances does not mean less expensive. Distance is a base factor.
Auto transport to and from rural areas is a more complex and economically challenging. It costs more than shipping to metro area.
To ship a non-running vehicle we need a truck that can winch it onto the trailer. This requires more work, more time and additional equipment.
When demand is high the truck space is limited and this means prices increase. That is why a quote is good for one week only.
Distance and make and model set the base price to ship a car.
A fair market rate is positioned in the middle of the price spectrum – between the highest and the lowest prices.
Supply and demand fluctuation is another major factor that contributes to price hikes or drops.
Expedited auto transport is a premium service and costs more. If you need your vehicle picked-up or delivered on or by an exact date then this is your option.
Enclosed auto transport is a preferred method of shipping high-end automobiles.
Top load means loading a vehicle on the top deck of the transport trailer. This ensures against possible leaks from other vehicles and flying road.
A correctly quoted rate is a fair market price that will ship a car now.
When you think of Illinois, Chicago instantly comes to mind. And although more than half of the state’s population lives in the Chicago metropolitan area, the Prairie State is more than just the Windy City.
The state can be divided into three geographical regions. Northern Illinois is predominantly occupied by Chicagoland: the City of Chicago and its suburbs. The third largest city in the US, Chicago is the place where midwestern sensibility couples with the big city edge. It is the true melting pot of cultures in the US. And once you’ll discover the countless opportunities it offers for employment, studying, and leisure, you’ll never want to leave.
Central Illinois is a combination of small towns and cities and its territory is dominated by prairie. And although agriculture is king in this region, manufacturing and service industries are also significant, with the presence of such companies as Caterpillar and State Farm Insurance. Main cities in the region include Springfield, the state capital, Bloomington-Normal, Peoria, and Urbana-Champagne. This part of the state is home to many protected areas, a few of which have to do with Abraham Lincoln. Among them are the Lincoln’s New Salem State Historic Site and Lincoln Home National Historic Site.
And, finally, Southern Illinois, also known as Little Egypt, encompasses the area south of U.S. Route 50. The area is mostly rural with extensive farmlands separating small towns. It’s home to the state’s first capital at Kaskaskia and Shawnee National Forest. The area is also one of the most established wine regions in the Midwest. So there’s no need to travel to Napa or Bordeaux to enjoy authentic wines.

Moving to Illinois may not be as exciting as moving to Hawaii, yet it deserves some emotion! Whether you’re considering Chicago or rural Illinois, here are some tips to help you make the most of your relocation.
Chicago Vibes vs. Small-Town Charm
Chicago – The Windy City – is a busy metropolis with diverse neighborhoods, iconic architecture, and a thriving cultural scene. Be ready for fast-paced city living. Rural Illinois offer completely different vibe! If you prefer a slower pace, you should explore smaller towns or suburbs. Illinois certainly offers charming communities, scenic landscapes, and a more relaxed lifestyle.
Weather Warrior You will Be!
Moving to Chicago means you will brace yourself for the famous Chicago winters. Invest in a good winter coat, sturdy boots, and learn the art of layering. The weather in southern parts can be slightly milder, but winters are still a significant factor. Prepare for temperature fluctuations and be ready for snow.
Transportation
Chicago’s public transportation is extensive, with the iconic “L” trains and buses. Consider living near your workplace to make commuting more convenient. Outside of Chicago, however, having a car will be essential. Public transportation is not as extensive in smaller towns, so plan accordingly.
Cost of Living Considerations
Living in the city comes with a higher cost of living, including housing, groceries, and entertainment. However, job opportunities are greater which means higher income is within greater reach. Smaller towns generally offer a more affordable cost of living, but job markets are often industry-specific. However, with the variety of options for remote work the landscape has changed significantly.
Culture and Cuisine
Chicago is well known melting pot of cultures. The city boasts diverse cuisines, museums, theaters, and events. From deep-dish pizza to some of the best Indian food, world-class museums, there’s always something to explore and everything is within reach. While smaller towns may have fewer cultural amenities, they often have a strong sense of community and local charm. This is always accompanied by variety of local festivals and events for newcomers to embrace.
Nature Escapes
When living in Chicago you can wholeheartedly enjoy Lake Michigan, various parks, and the lakefront. Chicago offers urban outdoor spaces for jogging, biking, and picnicking. In terms of nature, however, the rest of Illinois has a lot more to offer. You can explore state parks, nature reserves, and hiking trails. Illinois has beautiful rural landscapes that offer a contrast to city life.
Community Connections
In Chicago a diverse and vibrant community awaits, with various cultural neighborhoods and a mix of people from all walks of life. Connecting with people is usually easily manageable and this is what many newcomers love about Chicago! Outside of the city, smaller communities often provide a close-knit atmosphere where it is also easy to build connections.
Ultimately, the choice between Chicago and the rest of Illinois depends on your lifestyle preferences and the type of work you are looking to find. Consider what aspects matter most to you, and you will find the perfect fit in the Land of Lincoln!
