From Maine to Texas
Far in the north, closer to Canada than to the US itself, main is certainly the north most state, at least on the contiguous United States. It is rugged and rather wild, with a population of just under 1.5 million with a Canadian, French, and even Scandinavian vibe.
Maine is the 13th-least densely populated. This, along with its small area and low population, makes the place very calm and serene. Excellent escape if you want to get away from the large metropolises to the south.
The capital is town of Augusta and the largest city is Maine’s Portland (not to be mistaken with Oregon’s Portland). The town has a population of 66.000. It is a lovely place that resembles more a town in Denmark or Sweden, than a modern, bustling US city.
Economy & Education
Portland is the largest port in Maine. The close proximity to Boston adds up to the town’s importance. Maine’s economics made a shift from agriculture and fishing to a more service-based economy. In January 2020 Portland was announced to be the location of a new research institute that will focus on the application of artificial intelligence and machine learning.
The biggest employers in Maine are the National Army Guard, Hall Erika Pa, and IAMAW.
There are several good-quality colleges in Maine, including Maine College of Art, University of Maine School of Law, University of New England, and University of Southern Maine. Maine is very popular for its cuisine. Portland was named Bon Appetit magazine’s Restaurant City of the Year in 2018. In 2018, HealthIQ.com named Maine the 3rd most vegan state.
The most popular sports teams around are Maine Celtics, Portland Sea Dogs, and Maine Mariners.
Nature
The nature of Maine is well-preserved and a huge point of interest. Places like Megunticook Lake, The Reversing Falls, Katahdin Iron Works Park State Park, and Cutler Coast are famous all over the States!

According to many, Texas is the perfect place offering the perfect combination of food, climate, liberal laws and developed urban areas.
Austin is the capital of the state. Houston has a population of 2.3 million and has even more nicknames. The most famous ones are Space City, HOU, Bayou City, H-Town and Hustle-Town. It is the largest town and main part of the Texaplex – Texas’ largest metro.
Economics
Most of the state’s economy is in high-tech fields, mainly in space travel and medicine. With a GDP of over US$1.9 trillion, Texas ranks second in the United States. The state is rich in natural resources, most notably oil, but tourism and higher education also bring benefits.
Texas Medical Center – this is the largest cluster of medical institutions in the world. Texas Medical Center has more than 100,000 employees, receives 10 million patients every year, and has a GDP of 25 billion U.S. dollars.
The University of Houston is one of the leading research universities in the United States. It has more than 47.000 students and provides the above-mentioned institutions with the best young people in their respective fields. It is classified as “R1: Doctoral University-Very High Research Activity”. The U of H 282 degree program passes its 14 colleges and professional degrees.
Identity
Texas is well-known for its liberal policies. Houston is home to several large communities, such as African American, Hispanic, and Asian communities. One of the largest LGBTQ communities in the world maintains peace with one of the largest Christian communities in the United States.
