The state’s economy relies heavily on natural resource extraction, shipping, and transportation. The tourism sector has also been on the rise. Alaska doesn’t impose state income tax on its resident, and certain municipalities within the state don’t levy a sales tax. As an extra perk, Alaska pays you to live there.
