Icona Vulcano Titanium. Brought to you from the heart of the Italian automotive know-how – Turin. The original brainchild of the Icona Design House, Vulcano Titanium is the fruit of collaboration between the brightest minds in the car industry.
“Inspiration for the Vulcano came from the world’s fastest plane, the Blackbird SR-71, whose sharp and dramatic silhouette complimenting its sensual surface transitions was key to the styling of the Vulcano” shared Samuel Chuffart, Icona Design Director. Ambitious!
This Italian hypercar is the world’s first and only vehicle with titanium and carbon fiber body. The Vulcano’s silhouette was penned by Samuel Chuffart himself, and Mr.Claudio Lombardi and Mr. Mario Cavagnero, ex-Scuderia Ferrari and ex-Lancia engineers respectively, developed its powertrain technology.
The beast is capable of accelerating from 0 to 60mph in 2.8 seconds and boasts a top speed of 220mph. The 3,516lbs titanium body is propelled by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. The engine’s peak output is 670 horsepower, which can be increased to 1000 hp, should a customer desire. Each handcrafted Vulcano requires 10,000 man-hours to complete.
But so far automotive critics and enthusiasts alike haven’t been impressed with the model. Except maybe for the pricetag. One of the world’s most expensive cars can be yours if you have $2.78 million to spare.
