What documents do I need when shipping a car?
Domestic transport is easy. When shipping a car from Massachusetts to California, you or someone on your behalf must release the vehicle to the carrier at pick-up.
The person at pick-up will also need to sign a Bill of Lading (BOL). The BOL is a receipt and an inspection report. When the carrier inspects the car you need to check that all existing damages are marked before you sign. Never sign a blank or incomplete document.
From Massachusetts to the Golden State
Massachusetts is known for being a sporty state and a land of many firsts. Both basketball and volleyball have their starts there. Basketball was invented in 1891 by James Naismith in Springfield, MA, while volleyball was invented four years later by William Morgan in Holyoke.
So, if you were wondering why Massachusetts is such a sporty state and why people are so drawn not only to basketball, and volleyball, but also other sports, now you know why!
The first Dunkin Donuts was also opened for the first time in Quincy in 1950. But that is not even the only food chain that has started in MA! The first Subway to ever be established in the United States was in Boston in 1897.
As you can see, many things have their beginnings in Massachusetts. With that said, California is not far behind. Blue Jeans, Nicotine Patch, popsicles, and skateboarding are just some of the inventions the world needs to be thanking California for. California is also home to over 400 colleges and universities, including Stanford, California Institute of Technology, University of California – Berkeley, and Pomona College.
Getting used to the weather
The Golden State is among the best places to move to if you are looking for year-round sunshine. Most parts of California have a Mediterranean climate that ranges from polar to subtropical depending on which part you will move to. The northern part of California is usually cooler and wetter, while SoCal is mostly sunny. Nevertheless, whichever part of California you will end up relocating to, we are confident you will love it.
Be prepared for housing and living costs
Besides differences in weather, there is an intensive “rivalry” between Northern and Southern California in other aspects. However, all cities in the Golden state offer a special living experience. Among the most livable cities in California are Pao Alto, San Jose, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Berkeley, San Diego, Victorville, Sacramento, Oakland, Long Beach, and Santa Clara.
California is currently the 3rd largest state by area and one of the most populated one in the nation with over 39,77 million inhabitants. Sadly, its sunny weather comes at a price though! Compared to the national average, the cost of living in California is 43% higher. Why is that? Mostly because of its expensive housing, but even in this expensive state you can afford living in these 5 cities: Oxnard, Ventura, Simi Valley, Vacaville, and Camarillo — the 5 most affordable cities in the golden state.
What can you do in California?
Well-known for its booming tech, beautiful beaches, and laid-back lifestyle, California makes the perfect choice for all nature lovers. If you are used to enjoying the breathtaking nature of Massachusetts’, the Golden State will not disappoint you either. With that said, California offers another “level” of beauty and it is home to the “Happiest Place on Earth”: Disneyland. It doesn’t matter how old you are, visiting Disneyland at least once in your life is a dream come true for thousands of people.
But there are other attractions in California that you should check out. Some examples include Yosemite National Park, Sequoia National Park and Joshua Tree National Park. They are perfect for nature lovers. Aside from that other famous places are the Golden Gate Bridge, the Grand Canyon, Napa Valley Vineyards, Hollywood, Beverly Hills, the Death Valley, Channel Islands, and Kings Canyon, among so many others.
Here is a cool fact. You might have heard about the Webster Lake (as it is usually called by locals). But did you know that the real name of Webster Lake is “Chargoggagoggmanchauggagoggchaubunagungamaugg”? This is the world’s longest lake name according to the Guinness Book of Records and the place is definitely worth a visit.
