Hello Arizona!
Arizona is a sunny state with unique natural scenery that used to be overlooked by many people. It is usually considered a place to spend leisure time while hiking, playing golf and visiting the Grand Canyon. But there are many other activities in Arizona and its capital Phoenix!
Economic reasons to move to Arizona
Arizona’s economy is growing. The GDP in 2020 reached 320.66 billion U.S. dollars, which is impressive. The majority of employment is in the healthcare, transportation, and government sectors. This does not mean that the economy is not diversified. In recent years, Phoenix has won the reputation of “Entrepreneurs’ Dream City”. Phoenix is a vibrant city with numerous start-ups and is home to an entrepreneurial innovation center-a business incubator that contributes to the city’s economic vitality by creating jobs in small businesses. Shared work-spaces are scattered around Phoenix Valley, where the spirit of growth is still active.
The largest employers are Banner Health, Wall-Mart and Kroger.
Education is good
The Phoenix United High School District has 16 schools with more than 3,000 students. There are also several unified school districts serving grades K-12, and there are more and more charter schools. Higher education is represented by Arizona State University-one of the largest public universities in the country. ASU is a member of the University Research Association and is classified as “R1: Doctoral University-High Research Activity”. There are nearly 150,000 students at Arizona State University!
Culture
Phoenix is an artistic city with multiple performance venues and cultural institutions, such as the Phoenix Symphony Orchestra, Arizona Opera House and Arizona Ballet. The museum has rich scenery, including the Phoenix Art Museum, the Arizona State Capitol Museum, the Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art, the Arizona Military Museum and many fine art galleries that have recently opened.
Parks and recreation
However, as far as natural parks are concerned, urban parks need to take a step back. Arizona has some of the best natural landmarks not only in the United States but in the entire world. The Grand Canyon, Sedona, Monument Valley, Hoover Dam and Canyon Cheli National Monument are just some of the natural wonders that can be seen in this sunny state!
Texas, bye bye!
Houston is the largest city in Texas with a population of more than 2.3 million people. This is a city with many nicknames. The most popular ones are Space City, HOU, Bayou City, H Town and Hustle-Town. Houston is a major part of the Texplex, which includes Houston, the second largest city San Antonio, the state capital of Austin and Dallas Fort Worth.
The Houston Museum District is known for its 19 museums, including famous names such as the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Rothko Chapel, Menier Collection, Houston Museum of Contemporary Art, and Houston Museum of African American Culture.
As a large modern city, Houston has many parks-337 to be exact. The largest and most famous of these are Herman Park, Terry Hershey Park, Houston Lake Park, and Memorial Park. Herman Park is a 445-acre shrine located in the northern part of Texas Medical Center. It is home to the Houston Zoo, Miller Outdoor Theater and the Houston Museum of Natural Science.
Cons
Texas, and Huston in general, have several cons that you should put into consideration.
Traffic jams are one of Huston’s biggest problems. Commuters in Houston spend more time on the road than most Americans, averaging an hour or more each day, based on government traffic studies.
Due to its hot and humid weather, Huston is a huge breeding ground for mosquitos. So you need to have some repellent close-by at all time!
And due to its proximity to the ocean and the Gulf of Mexico, Huston is prone to floods and hurricanes.
Texas has no state income tax, but it’s a trap. This makes up for a sale tax of 8.25%, which is on the high end of the country.
The reasons to move out of Texas and to Arizona, for most people are certainly more serious. Whatever your reason might be, enjoy your new home in Arizona!
